Message from TNP for Full Practice Bill

I am contacting you today to seek your help with our effort to pass a full practice bill. Representative Cecil Bell has agreed to author the bill and plans to work it hard to try and pass the measure. I met with his staff this past week and to help them attract legislative support, they asked if I could generate some real examples from providers of how the current regulatory mess impacts your ability to provide care to your patients.
If you are willing to write a letter, there are some general points that you will want to highlight.
1. First off, please be very respectful and thank Representative Bell for agreeing to take on this challenge. This is a heavy haul and he is determined to put his full effort into trying to get it passed.
2. Don't be negative toward the medical associations or any individual physicians.
3. Clearly explain how regulations have increased costs for you and/or your patients and use specific examples.
4. If you have had to close a practice or if the cost of physician delegation/supervision has been so great that you have chosen to NOT open your own practice, please make sure to include that information.
5. If you came from a full practice state, please make note of the differences.
6. Please make note if your primary patient load is Medicaid and how the cost of delegation keeps you from hiring additional staff or expanding your practice to care for those patients.
Anything you believe is pertinent to this effort, please feel free to expand on it. But please, under no circumstances do we want you to talk negatively about legislators/physicians/medical associations. These letters will be shared with other legislators as Representative Bell attempts to build legislative support.
If you would like for me to review your letter before sending, please let me know and I am happy to do so. Also, if you have any colleagues willing to send a letter, pass this on to them. We need all the letters we can get.
