I am a doctoral candidate at Houston Christian University seeking participants for my dissertation study. I would greatly appreciate your assistance by sending this request to your current members or by providing me with other options that would be helpful for seeking assistance from your organization and other organizations you may be affiliated with. Please see below and let me know if you are able to assist!
The purpose of the study is to explore and detail the ways in which the lived experience of gendered racism effects African American women in leadership. Gendered racism is defined as discrimination based on being a minority in both race and gender. Examples of gendered racism are often seen through stereotypes and microaggressions. The following criterion for participants is requested:
· African American
· Assigned female at birth and currently identify as female
· In a leadership position (For the purposes of this study, leadership is defined as having at least one direct report that you lead, manage, or supervise)
· In either the academic, legal, medical, or mental health career field
· Works in the Greater Houston Area
Participation in the study will include a virtual or in person interview (based on participant’s preference) and a brief discussion post interview to ensure the researcher is adequately detailing participants’ responses. Participating in this study will help to contribute to limited literature, as well as detail the experiences of a population whose experiences are often overlooked and minimized.
It should be noted that participant identity will be protected. If you are interested in participating, please complete the google form via the link below and I will contact you for next steps. You can also contact this researcher directly if interested or if there are any questions.
Thank you for your consideration!
