Overview
Session Objectives:
- Review current HIV epidemiology
- Define purpose of PrEP
- Distinguish PrEP eligibility
- Identify medications used for Pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis
- Understand medication pharmacology
- Review treatment initiation, and follow up guidelines
- Briefly review additional risk reduction options
Learning Objectives
100% of participants will self report increased knowledge regarding the latest in drug therapy, diagnosis, and treatment of some of the most common clinical conditions encountered in the family practice setting.
Speakers
ISAPN Membership Chair
Hannah Holmes is a seasoned provider and emerging leader who is passionate about building interdisciplinary teams and the systems around them to support under-resourced communities with the highest quality of care. A graduate of DePaul University’s MENP and FNP certification programs, Ms. Holmes started her career over 15 years ago as a CNA. She has since worked as a general surgery PCT, general medicine RN, and Primary Care Provider in a busy FQHC on Chicago’s near Southwest side. Her current role blends the leadership of Rush’s Department of Community Engagement APP team, with the provision of care in the department’s SBHCs and Adolescent Family Center. Hannah is pursuing a DNP in Practice Leadership from Case Western Reserve’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, where her doctoral project focuses on job satisfaction of APRNs working in Illinois. Ms. Holmes serves as the Membership Chair on the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses board of directors and sits on the membership committee for the American Organization of Nurse Leaders. Hannah has been a guest lecturer with the UIC “Community Health Outside the Exam Room” seminar series over the past 3 years, and was recognized as a Pinnacle Nurse Leader at the 2022 Power of Nursing Leadership event.
