The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 stipulates for all DEA-registered practitioners an 8-hour training requirement. Beginning on June 27, 2023, the act requires all renewing and new DEA applicants to testify that they have completed 8 CE hours on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
- The training does not have to occur in one session.
- This is a one-time training requirement affirmation.
- There are a couple of exceptions, so read the DEA's letter if you are a specialty provider or a new graduate.

Joining the National Spine and Pain Centers in May 2021, Dr. Tannous brings more than a decade of experience to the practice. His previous professional experience includes treating patients at various pain treatment centers in Missouri, Arizona, Nevada and Virginia.
