TNA special action needed by 3 pm today!!

This is information that we have received from TNA. Please read the information below and send emails if you can before 3 p.m. TODAY.
We need you to take action immediately to send an email from your NLAC member organization to members of the House of Representatives. Tomorrow, THURSDAY, MAY 5th, the Texas House of Representatives will vote on a bill that eliminates the confidentiality of nurses who report physicians to the Texas Medical Board. If passed the bill will make a repeat of what happened to the two Winkler County nurses more likely. TNA is working to get the bill amended but all Representatives need to know that your organization thinks House Bill 1013 is a bad idea -- bad for nurses and bad for their patients.
House Bill 1013 would change current law and require the Texas Medical Board to disclose to the physician the identity of nurses (and others) who report a physician.
Emails should be sent ASAP but no later than 3 pm tomorrow (Thursday).
Below is the email for you to edit with your organization name to send to the Representative.
The Quickest Way to Send 150 Email Messages
An individual person cannot send to every Representative in TNA’s Grassroots Alert System, so we have a plan. The Representatives’ email addresses are divided into 3 groups of 50 at the bottom of this email.
Step 1: Copy a group of 50 & paste into the “Bcc” section of the email you are going to send, which we have written below. If the “Bcc” doesn’t show in your new email message, click the “To” field to show the “Bcc” option.
Step 2: Put your email address in the “To” Field of the message.
Step 3: Copy the “Email to Representatives” (below) and Insert your organization’s name in the first line and your organization’s name and your name in the closing of the email message.
To avoid the messages getting trapped in spam filters, please do no more than 50 addresses at a time, this means three email messages. Yes, we know this is a hassle, but it is crucial we let the offices know that not only their constituent nurses feel this is bad public policy.

HB 1013 is on the House Calendar Thursday, May 5. _______(Insert Organization name)____ opposes this bill with the provision that abolishes the confidentiality of nurses who report physicians. HB 1013 would change current law and require the Texas Medical Board to disclose to the physician the identity of nurses (and others) who report a physician to the board. This is bad for nurses and bad for patients.
Disclosure of the identity of nurses who report a physician will have a chilling effect on reporting and will make it more difficult for the medical board to meet its responsibility of taking action against physicians whose practice is unsafe and does not meet the accepted standard of care.
Please oppose the provision in HB 1013 that would abolish the confidentiality of nurses who report physicians for unsafe care.
